UNDISCOVERED  TUSCANY

Originally a small village, this group of houses has recently been restored by the family, with the aim of offering complete comfort to its guests without altering the architectural details so typical of the small villages in this area. Situated on a hillside close to the old Roman town of Pontremoli the views are magnificent. The snow capped Apennines looking at their most dramatic in the Winter. There is a swimming pool in the Hotel grounds.

Personally owned, the Hotel Costa D'Orsola provides excellent food and service in the delightful vaulted dining room ablaze with fresh flowers, where many of the ingredients used are the produce of the Azienda. Breakfast and dinner may also be taken in the covered loggia which has a magnificent view across the Magra valley to the sea.

The 10 bedrooms, all with private shower are reached by walking under archways linking rooms and terraces to one another. Some rooms have attractive sanded beams, others an old fireplace or a romantic Tuscan style bed and all have telephone and central heating. The historic town of Pontremoli which has a good selection of shops is renowned for its good restaurants and even boasts the oldest tea shop in Lunigiana.

Having easy access to the Autostrada, the coast at Lerici or La Spezia can be reached within 25 minutes, Pisa and Lucca in 60 minutes and Florence in 90 minutes.

The lovely old town of Parma is only one hour away which has many wonderful buildings to visit such as the Duomo, Baptistery and the Church of S. Maria della Steccata.
