Villa Molino is an independent manor of about 300 sqm. created from an antique water-mill. Together with the 12th century Abbey it is the most important historical building in that area. Originally built in the 13th century, it was reconstructed and enlarged in 1606 by the Arrighi family, the story of which was registered year after year up to this day in the documents of the Leopoldino Register kept in custody in Siena.
Il Molino was in daily use until 1945. During the long restoration, great attention and care was taken in maintaining all the water routes which characterise the house.

The house is ideal for 8 guests. Three private entrances lead to the house. The main one goes through a big glass partition and opens to a huge dining room and living room on the ground floor, with a typical Tuscan fireplace. In a corner of the hall one can still note the place where the grinders were situated.
A glass roof was created along the water-route under the house which can be seen from the corner of the living room.
The rest of ground floor is occupied by a well-equipped kitchen, with a door leading outs to a covered pergola area. The kitchen leads to a wide storage room, then to a work-room with washing machine and a shower-bath.
From here it’s back to the living room, then to the stairs leading the upper floor forming one big living room with a fireplace in the corner. The room leads to an independent shower bathroom and two double bedrooms, one with private bathroom and a door which opens out onto the garden.
Stairs lead to the old pigeon tower, converted to two double rooms.

The Molino rooms are complete with telephones and, there is an answering machine, fax, with satellite TV and a GSM mobile phone.

The swimming pool ( 7x10 ) was also built where the old “gora” stood, originally used for the storing of the water which fed the the millwheel. The house is surround by a garden, furnished with an irrigation system.

Molino is 500 meters from the Abbey, 1 Km from the town of Castelnuovo dell’ Abate where you can find a small shop selling basic foodstuff as well as a couple of restaurants.
The road leading to the valley is private. The property is reached through an electric gate.

Montalcino is only 9 kms away, Siena 45 kms, Bagno Vignoni 30 kms, Pienza 42 kms, Florence 110 kms.
