Casa della Vigna is a beautifully restored village house with an extensive garden and wonderful views.
The house is all on one level, with an open plan living room, well-equipped kitchen, 2 good-sized bedrooms and a bathroom. Through the french doors is the shady patio, looking over the vines and olives towards the mountains. The paved terrace beyond has steps down to the garden and a further covered area with barbecue, table and chairs. The garden is terraced, with lawn, olives and vines going down the hillside. Only 10 minutes' walk to restaurants in Podenzano, famous throughout Italy for its 'Panigacci' - flatbreads cooked in the fire and served with cold meats and soft local cheese. But you will find it hard to drag yourself from the comfortable terrace chairs where you can sit gazing with your glass of local wine, across at the mountains, or towards the sea, less that half an hour away. Podenzana is the home of Panigacci, famous throughout Italy. They are small pancakes that are cooked to order in special clay pots in the open fire in front of you. They are served with a selection of cold meats and stracchino cheese to spread on them. Washed down with good Tuscan wine, of course.There area a selection of restaurants not far from the house serving them, as well as standard Italian menus.
Lerici, only half an hour away, is an old fishing port with a good fish market, beaches and boats out to the Cinque Terre. The Cinque Terre are a collection of five old villages clinging to the cliffsides. They are full of excellent restaurants, and lovely coves for bathing.
